Mount Jiri.

Yesterday, I climbed the Mount Jiri. Along with Mount Seorak and Mount Halla, Mount Jiri is considered to be one of the three most important mountains of South Korea. Its highest peak, Chunwang peak is 1,915m high and the peak's name means "Heaven's King." The sunrise at the top of the peak is said to be one of the most beautiful sight a man can behold. Imagine a sunrise over a sea of clouds. Here is a picture to give you a feel (courtesy of some photographer).

Sadly, my ascent was under very poor weather. Fog was everywhere, and when I reached the top after a very long and tiresome climb, it started raining cats and dogs. My sight was very limited and under bitter coldness, I had to climb down without having much time to enjoy the sight.

In a sense, I was glad. I was desperately looking for something to take my mind off from being separated from my small love that is just beginning--all 8 hours of hard ascent and descent was enough to help me clear my mind. I felt lonely, bitter, and exhausted. I could fully feel the sorrow of missing someone significant. Sometimes, one has to feel loss to understand how much one has.
